The celebration of the Prophet’s birth (al-Mawlid al-Nabawī) has long been debated within Islamic scholarship. While some scholars classify it as bidʿah (innovation), others view it as a permissible cultural expression of love for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. In answer to your question we examines the issue through the lens of Islamic legal theory (uṣūl al-fiqh) by distinguishing between ʿibādāt (acts of worship) and ʿādāt (customary or social acts).
